What is Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB)
As the workforce becomes more mobile and BYOD usage increases, Organisations are turning to SaaS (software as a service) providers to ensure their employees can continue to work efficiently. This move to SaaS though, is creating gaps in an organisations security platform as users are no longer required to go via firewalls or VPN devices to gain access to corporate data. Additionally, once the use of SaaS applications starts, your exposure to unsanctioned, non-business SaaS applications (also referred to as Shadow IT) also begins. A Cloud Access Security Broker provides an on-premise or cloud-based enforcement point where you can define not only what applications a user is able to reach, but also what data can be transferred in and out of your SaaS estates and what can then be done with it.
